The scenario for Bengali books in the state of
West Bengal, India, may be divided into two broad categories,
namely Text or Academic Books (i.e. books prescribed as texts
in schools and colleges) and Non-text or those other than the
prescribed text books (i.e. books, which buyers buy to seek knowledge
or for entertainment). All Bengal Publishers Association (or
ABPA in short) is an organization, which encourages the non-text
publications, although several of its members are involved in
textbook publications as well. ABPA helps its members face the
problems of non-text publications in co-operative manner. |
